GM folks! By now I am sure you have heard of the little blue pill for men. This pill, commonly known as Viagra, pops up on the tv in several commercials as a remedy for men who want to “do it,” but are physically unable to due to some softness. This pill was approved for use over 17 years ago and several additional research studies have focused on men’s sexual health, leaving us women behind. Of course, traditionally women have not been able to openly express any sort of sexual desires despite our overuse as sex symbols in mainstream media. So this perfect storm of problems has led to what many people are deeming a victory for women’s sexual health. However, I have my reserves…
Have y’all seen this new “Female Viagra” called Addyi? Well, third time’s the charm they say! It’s a failed antidepressant that was rejected 2…

How can you be successful in life? Check out this list!
This week during the new student medallion ceremony, the president gave a David Letterman Top Ten list theme address titled: The 10 Keys to Academic Success. As I listened to the list, it became apparent that it applies to life in general and not just to college success.
Here’s my take on his list:
1. Never have a closed mind — Learning is a life long process. If you’re not learning, then you’re not growing.
2. Study like your life depended on it — or work like your life depends on it, because usually it does, especially if you’re the breadwinner for yourself or family.
3. View the next few years as a license to explore the world, and not a prison center — this should definitely apply to everyday life! TRAVEL!! Experiencing different places, cultures, people teach you more about yourself. If you are going to work everyday, find…

Are you Single? Are you satisfied?
PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4 | PART 5 | PART 6
As a single woman in the beginning of my 30s, I often hear questions related to my dating life…or lack there of…Every time I see grandma she makes sure she slides in some comment about me meeting a nice young man regardless of the conversation. I wonder if guys my age have to endure these same conversations…
Usually I want to scream out loud: YES, I AM STILL SINGLE! NO, I DON’T NEED A MAN. YES, I DESIRE TO BE MARRIED ONE DAY HOWEVER I AM OK IN MY CURRENT SITUATION. Unfortunately, I know that is not proper, lady-like behavior so I just endure those conversations like a G with a smile on my face. Silently, I amuse myself because the main people who have those talks with me are…single…so usually while he/she…

I vividly remember that hot summer day, 10 years ago, Aug 2005. My family had a going away gathering for me because I was headed to Illinois for graduate school. At that point I had gone to college about 3.5hrs away from home but I could easily drive home or even realistically make a turn around trip if I needed to make one. However that lurking move to graduate school would be the farthest I had lived from home. I was not looking forward to that 7 hour drive through the Tennessee mountains, but was ready for a new adventure.
I look back now and wonder why that move was such a big deal… I think it was the reality that I wasn’t just going to be gone for 5yrs like the sign said but rather never really come back home because I never really fit there anyway. At the…

Where do you find peace?

Growing up I always heard the bible verse that talks about having the Peace that Surpasses ALL understanding, but never really fully understood what it meant. After going through a few storms and figuring out how to not go crazy in the midst of those storms, that verse finally began to make sense to me. When I saw this sunset over the water, it took me to that place of peace. No other issues matter. No worries to contemplate.
When you look at this picture, where does it take you?
in Serenity,
